Mike Boogie Crowned Winner of Big Brother: All Stars

Hooray for Chilltown!!! I’m so excited that Boogie was crowned the winner of Big Brother: All Stars tonight. The jury recognized that it was Chilltown’s game this summer, and that it was only right that Boogie won in the end.

A quick side note – I have no idea what happened to my blog from last week about the final three. I had a lot to say…it’s somewhere in cyberspace, I’m sure. The short version – thank goodness Boogie won HoH. I think Janelle would have taken him if she won, but Erika would have stuck with the whole misplaced girl power thing. That, and I felt so sad for Boogie being in the house without Will. (although as Boogie was tearfully admitting “we can dish it out but we can’t take it,” I did yell “Hey! There’s no crying in Big Brother!”)

So I loved the staged conversation between the jury members. Janelle was rightfully fired up about Erika, and I was shocked that there were people who thought she played a good game. I also think that Boogie’s answer to Danielle’s question was fantastic; just one more reason why he deserves the money.

Best moment of the night? Jase & Dianne’s mock Chilltown phone call, and the reaction of the jury members watching some of the calls from the diary room. The phone calls were my favorite part of the show – I would love to see just a tape of them!

In the end, the jury did the right thing and voted Mike Boogie the winner. And even though I was hoping it would be Will, I’m so pleased that Chilltown won another title.

Overall, I thought this was a good season. I know that there’s been lots of internet talk that it wasn’t nearly as good as expected, which, to an extent, is true. The challenges were repetitive, and there was definitely a sense that the producers were playing a much bigger role in the show than they should be. You could tell, too, that the houseguests were expecting something bigger and better than what they got, which led to some interesting game play. (could you believe how many times a houseguest “threw” a competition?) But in the end it was good tv, and I’m sad it’s over. Thank goodness all my favorites are coming back, or it would be a long long time till next summer.

The beginning of the end for Chilltown

Well, I was wrong about Big Brother. Wrong wrong wrong wrong wrong. You didn’t think I could actually predict this one all the way out did you?

We’re entering the final week of Big Brother. I’m still not entirely sure why they decided to cut the season a few weeks short (hence, the two double eviction weeks) – at least here in DC it’s getting pretty good ratings. But we have another eviction tonight.

My favorite part of the show tonight was definitely the scenes from the jury house. That would almost be a better show – just shots of Howie arguing with everyone. At least James has Danielle to talk to now. But I can’t wait for Will to join them tomorrow. He’s going to have to sleep with one eye open…

Back to the BB7 house, the final PoV competition of the summer. I wonder what it will be? Oh, wait – it’s more trivia. At least tonight it was trivia with a vat of goo. The thing is, that if they hadn’t done trivia all summer, this might have been a neat challenge. But I’m so sick of trivia. And I’m sick of Janelle winning trivia. You have to hand it to her – she is the queen of trivia. And I wonder why the rest of them don’t “study” a bit – they have to realize what sort of odds there are that the competition will be trivia based.

Anyways, after Janelle won, Erika started scrambling. And like Will said early in the game, whoever talks to Janelle last might just sway her vote. But in the midst of her scrambling, somehow Erika figured out that she had been played by Chilltown. I just loved how the two girls sat and figured out that Chilltown had been telling them both the same thing. It was great – I just wish that they had talked about the whole “ninja” line. So when it came time for the vote, I wasn’t surprised that Janelle voted to evict Will. Sad, sure. But not surprised. What did surprise me was Boogie’s answer to the question of whether he and Erika will still be close after the game. I think he was convinced that she was leaving; now he’s stuck in the house with her and Janelle. Hmmmm.

One last note on tonight’s episode – I liked that during the first round of the HoH competition Boogie stepped off. I know he claims it’s a “Hatch-like” move (and, by the way, if you win Boogie, be sure to pay your taxes) – that both girls will take him to the final two since they can beat him. But the better part of the strategy is that it’s a 3 round competition. If the two girls last awhile in round 1, they will be much easier to beat in the other rounds vs. a fresh Boogie. Of course, that assumes that Janelle won’t accidentally take her hand off while talking to Boogie. Oh well.

Two more episodes to go…what will I do with my time once it’s over?

Final Four on Big Brother

We’re down to the final four on Big Brother: All Stars. The nominations don’t matter this week – it’s really all about the PoV. But we have to get the HoH first.

No surprise that tonight’s HoH competition was another trivia game. At least this one was not 50-50 (although did anyone else notice that the harder trivia and clearly defined number of questions was on the game that Janelle couldn’t play? All you conspiracy theorists out there, enjoy…), but the football theme was just silly. The best part of the game is through the first two questions, I was winning. That’s right – I got the first two questions right. Of course, just as I was thinking I was some sort of Big Brother genius, I got the rest of the questions horrible wrong. In the actual game, Boogie won his second HoH, and probably one of the most important. With Boogie HoH, Chilltown pretty much ensures that a girl will go home this week.

The other big storyline this week was “Project Double Date.” No question that the flirting between Will & Janelle is purely strategy. They both have significant others outside of the house, and supposedly on the live feeds Will talks a lot about how he hopes his girlfriend will forgive him. Will also sent a message to his girlfriend through Boogie’s HoH Diary that he hopes she understands that it’s just a game. Janelle might be taking it a little more seriously than Will is, but she’s also so much smarter than she lets on…it could all be strategy on her part as well.

The more interesting part of Project Double Date is Erika & Boogie. Aside from the fact that there is no doubt that there is a physical relationship between the two of them (nice montage, by the way CBS), there’s the rumor that they’re actually dating out of the house. Up until this week, I really thought there was something there. Now I’m not sure. In Erika’s mind, this is a real relationship. But Boogie keeps referring to it as just a showmance. And his revelation that “Erika is going to be very upset after the show,” and that “I’m going to hell,” he might just be playing her.

Quick side note about appearances…60-something days locked in the Big Brother house seems to be taking it’s toll on the houseguests. Boogie pointed out how Erika has started smoking again, and it looks like she has aged 5 years. Boogie looks like he has aged a bit too. And Janelle has switched to a 1-piece bathing suit that was much less flattering than her bikini…not sure if she’s gained weight or not, but it looked like it from that scene in the hot tub. Will, though, seems to look almost the same (except for desperately needing a hair cut) – guess there’s something to all that Botox, huh?

At the very end of the show, we finally find out what we already knew would happen – Boogie nominated the two girls for eviction. And even though Chilltown is making nice with Janelle, I’m sure they have thought it through that she is far more dangerous to go up against in the end than Erika. I was surprised that we didn’t have the PoV competition tonight though. I though that Julie had said that the live eviction show would be Tuesday this week. But maybe they (the producers) changed their minds. Just over a week to go till the finale…hopefully next week we’ll be celebrating a Chilltown victory.

Big Brother on Overdrive

Do you ever wonder how much of reality tv is actually real? Well, if you watched last night’s episode of BB7, you probably have a better idea.

Last night’s show (which, thank you channel 9 in DC, I had to watch this morning because I love sleeping more than watching Big Brother at 2:37 am) was billed as “Big Brother in overdrive” – a week’s worth of show in one live hour. Why did they do this? Well, the producers have decided to end the show earlier than planned. So they need to eliminate more than one houseguest per week to get them to the finale in less than 2 weeks. Of course, it doesn’t appear that they’ve actually told the houseguests this (which is why they told Neil Patrick Harris that they had more days left than they actually do, and why they were so confused after the second eviction). Because the show was live, the “coaching” that usually happens on the show was absent, and it was clear where it happens.

First, we had the first eviction of the night. Not a shocker that Danielle was voted out. She’s a much tougher competitor than George, and she would have been impossible to beat in the final two. She took it way better than I expected, and left in a way that would make her kids proud. I guess that her outburst on the last show was really fueled by the crappy wine they are always drinking.

Next we had another freakin’ trivia competition for HoH. And it was the same sort of trivia competition we’ve had all summer…low-tech, 50-50 questions. It’s such a disappointment, considering the caliber of challenges on Survivor. There has also been talk this season that the producers are giving Janelle an unfair advantage. For example, during the PoV competition this week, when each houseguest was sequestered in a room, Janelle was in the room with the memory wall. Having that time to study the wall is why she won PoV. And the HoH competition was strange too – Julie never said how many questions there were. So really, they could have ended it at any time (like when the person they wanted to win was ahead). Anyways, Janelle won HoH, and had four minutes to decide who to nominate. (this was strange too, since when George had to do a live nomination, he didn’t have any time to think it over)

After a quick talk with Will, we came back from commercials for Janelle to nominate Erika & Chicken George. And this is the point where you could start to tell that one of the things the producers do is talk over the “script” with the houseguests before each ceremony (you’ll notice that they are always alone before the ceremonies…). No time to do this, and there were long awkward pauses, and the houseguests clearly did not know what they were supposed to do next. This was also the point in the show where you could tell that Julie was starting to get annoyed with everyone.

Anyways, it was a good choice to nominate George & Erika. Even if Erika won PoV, George can go home. The only other choice, I think, would be for the girls to have teamed up to get rid of Chilltown. But since they both think they are part of Chilltown (and how funny was the whole ninja thing at the beginning of the show?), I guess they won’t be doing that any time soon. And, not a shocker, Erika won PoV. It was actually a good challenge – it was nice to have something other than trivia.

After another commercial break, we had another awkward live tv moment. Julie asked Erika a ridiculous question, she didn’t know what to say, and finally just said hi to her mom. She also hadn’t been coached to say “this veto meeting is adjourned”, and for whatever reason, Julie couldn’t move on until that was said. (and you think I’m OCD?...) So Janelle nominated Boogie, who looked sick to his stomach.

After yet another commercial break, Julie asked each nominee for a statement. Julie was clearly reading off the script, and George couldn’t believe she asked him for a statement 30 minutes after the last one. Mike got some free advertising (ha!), then promptly got the votes to stay. And, as promised, the producers had fried chicken waiting for George, along with a bad Col. Sanders imitation.

So the final four is Erika, Janelle, Boogie, & Dr. Will. (another live show glitch – somehow Erika’s picture on the memory wall was replaced with a black & white pic of Jase) I don’t see how someone from Chilltown won’t win the game. Both girls believe they are members of Chilltown, and they each have a showmance in full-swing. Every way I figure it, one of the girls will be going home next, regardless of who wins HoH/PoV this week. There are only three more episodes left (Sunday, Tuesday, Thursday, & Tuesday…no episode on 9/10, season finale on 9/12), and then I think we’ll see a second Big Brother crown for Dr. Will.

Janelle is the Veto Queen

It’s Christmas in August in the Big Brother house. Which, apparently, means that we get to see Will’s man crush on Neil Patrick Harris play out in person. Wow.

I am still in love with Chilltown (even with the Neil Patrick Harris revelation). They are outsmarting nearly everyone in the game. I don’t know how you couldn’t vote for one of them in the end to win the game. They have played a phenomenal game. That, and they’re just so goofy. Did you see Will when Neil Patrick Harris woke him up? Or when they got the trampoline? Or during the veto competition? Or….

James has lost his Veto King title for good. Janelle is amazing. One minute? Holy cow. No question that she is the ultimate competitor, and that she is far smarter than she lets on.

But in the end, it was Chilltown with all the smarts. Somehow, they convinced Erika to put up Danielle after Janelle won PoV. It was completely the right move – there’s no way that any of them can beat Danielle in the finals. And after Danielle flipped out, well, it was clearly the right choice. And even better is that Erika did the dirty work instead of them.

Danielle will probably go home on Thursday. Of course, I will have to wait until Friday to see it. That’s right, anyone in the Washington DC area will be treated to a meaningless football game played by a team that lost to my team (the almighty New England Patriots) last week 41-0 instead of BB7. Thank you DC CBS affiliate for at least running my show afterwards, even if it is at 2:35 in the morning.

Why I Will No Longer Watch "House Calls"

Now that my internet appears to be working properly, I had the chance to watch “House Calls” (the Big Brother internet talk show) on Friday afternoon. It’s pretty much the same format as the similar shows for Survivor and Amazing Race – a former contestant and a random entertainment insider chat with the recent castoff, talk about the show, and take phone calls. So on Friday, then, James was the guest. He was on for the first 30 minutes, and solidified why he was one of my favorites. It was a funny interview, even with a few awkward moments with the hosts (at one point, Bunky suggested that James slip Howie & Marcellas a few roofies in the sequester house so he could get some peace and quiet). Anyways, after James left, the hosts started talking (emphatically, I might add) about how that was the worst interview ever, and how horrible James was. They talked about how he needed therapy, and was glad to see him leave their set. What was that all about? Aside from the fact that I won’t be watching their show again, I think they both owe James and his family an apology. And I’m shocked that CBS will continue to let them broadcast that sort of show.

Ok, climbing down from my soapbox, and back to tonight’s episode of Big Brother: All Stars. I am still not sure about the whole Erika-Boogie thing. I’m not as sure about their relationship – is it real or just a showmance? And did he really “Lance Showmance” her into not nominating Will? Very interesting.

Speaking of interesting, that was a strange food competition. I did NOT need to see Chicken George in spandex. I don’t even think George’s wife wanted to see him in that outfit. It will be awhile for me to get that image out of my mind, And can you imagine the producers meeting where someone came up with that idea? Wow.

So no real shock that Erika nominated Janelle & George for eviction. Although I think that strategically she shouldn’t have nominated Janelle – she is this season’s Veto Queen. It would have been far better to backdoor her, with the backup plan being to get rid of George. And I love how everyone thinks they have an alliance with Chilltown. When will they all realize that Chilltown is in it for Chilltown?

James is the Next Houseguest Evicted

After Howie’s eviction on Sunday, tonight’s BB7 show was such a welcome change.

First, we got to see a glimpse of Marcellas & Howie at the sequester house. Clearly I’m not the only one who wanted to see that more than footage of the houseguests lounging in the back yard. I just wish they had played the theme song to “The Odd Couple” in the background.

Second, even though I was bummed to see James go, he was so classy in the way he left. No temper tantrums, no calling out members of his alliance. He just said how it was great to play with the best, and that he got beaten by the best. It seemed like he was even a bit pleased with Will’s message to him. Good for you James. There’s more to life than Big Brother, and when you act like a jerk on national tv, it doesn’t bode well for your “real” life. But when you act like James, it will get you far. It reminds me of how Nick went out on Survivor last season – a class act all the way.

Finally, I was so glad to see Erika win HoH. Even though I hate that it was another stupid trivia challenge, her winning will keep Chilltown safe another week. I’m sure she’ll nominate Janelle…maybe she’ll break her alliance with George and he’ll go up as well. Or maybe she’ll put up Will as a pawn. Should be fun.

Big Brother Rocks

I know, I am SO behind on my Big Brother blogging. And since we're going out again tonight (it's not every day that my friend Jacob turns 6!), I'll be behind again. Sorry. Now that our internet seems to be back up and running, things should go much more smoothly.

First, Sunday's elimination. It doesn't bother me that Howie went home - way better than losing James or Erika. But it does bother me the way that he left. For those of you who don't know, pretty much the only thing that isn't allowed on any reality show is physical violence. There have been a couple of instances (I think even one on BB) of contestants being kicked off for threatening another player. (keep this in mind for later) So Howie's actions were ridiculous. Chilltown is right - anyone who says they can get through the game without lying is, well, lying.

So another trivia HoH (enough of trivia, please!), and Chilltown was victorious. Boogie won HoH, and Janelle looked MAD. Oh - did you see Erika's reaction to Boogie's win? A little more fuel for the "Erika & Boogie are an item" fire.

I'm not sure about Boogie's nominations. He put up Janelle & James, with the idea that everyone wants Janelle out, and if she wins PoV, James is expendable. And I guess I kind of understand that Janelle is a bigger target than Chilltown - it's good for them to have her around another week or two. But it could come back to bite them in the butt. My first thought was that he should not nominate Janelle - nominate James & Chicken George - so that Janelle wouldn't be eligible for the veto. Then, if the Veto King didn't win (if he did, he could backdoor Janelle) Boogie could use the coup d'etat and overthrow his own nominations. Oh well.

The real drama of the week was the PoV competition. Another trivia game, this time with a physical challenge (sort of) as well. This is where the rule about physical violence comes into play again. At one point in the game, James & Janelle were fighting over the same doll. Janelle got it, and James ended up losing the PoV. James was walking around complaining that Janelle had kicked him/hit him/hurt him. He even showed a tiny little scrape off in the diary room. Yes, it's pitiful that he got his butt kicked by Janelle. But his point was that she hurt him, which should disqualify her. At the very least, I think he was hoping to get to re-do the competition (they've already re-done one this summer, why not another?). It stinks for James that he lost...he's probably going home.

So here's where we stand - James & Chicken George are now up for eviction. Chilltown says they want James gone, but we all know that what they say and what they do are two different things. But I think that the votes for James to go are still there. The only twist - what if Boogie decides to use that darn power after all?

One last thought - the members of the sequester house will be (if things work out as they seem) Howie, Marcellas, & James. I'm not paying for the live feeds, but I would pay to watch that. :)

Twists & Turns on BB7

We all know that I am in love with Chilltown. And that I am totally hooked on BB7. But here’s my big question for the week – who has the time to go and live in the Big Brother house for three months? Seriously? They’re already on day 44 – this seems insane. You know what is also insane? The person who watches the live feeds and types in everything that happens. Really. There is at least one person out there doing this. Check it out if you don’t believe me (http://jam.canoe.ca/Television/TV_Shows/B/BigBrother7/) (click on the chat archives)

Anyways, it was a crazy week in the BB house. As promised, they had to re-do the HoH competition, and, surprise surprise, Janelle won. I was disappointed that everyone competed – they should have just let those who were left in when the buzzers started to malfunction compete. And why is it that the buzzers sucked so much to begin with? This is a major network show – for less than $100 you can buy buzzers online for your classroom. Seriously CBS – what are you doing?

After Janelle won, I would have thought that she would keep Erika safe. After all, she did originally win the HoH, and it would have been a nice move to say something about that and because of it keep her safe. But Janelle nominated Erika & Danielle. Go figure.

A stunning revelation – it seems like there may be a little showmance going on between Boogie & Erika. They’ve shown them kissing a few times, and even Boogie fake proposing to her. It’s also come out that they may have a relationship in real life – those live feed archives said that Will has mentioned that Erika & Boogie have lived together for the last 6 months. Hmmm….

At the PoV competition, the Legion of Doom was in full effect, throwing the competition so that Danielle would win and take herself off the block. It would have been a fantastic plan if James had done a better job acting. Yikes. But even more frightening is that even though it was clear that James threw the competition, Janelle didn’t nominated him to replace Danielle. I had thought that she was smarter than she is letting on, but now I’m just not sure.

So, Marcellas got back-doored by Janelle, and not surprisingly went home on Thursday. I’m not too sad about not seeing him in that bathrobe anymore. And Mike Boogie, who won the Coup D’Etat, wisely didn’t use his power. Chilltown is SO safe for a few more weeks.

Finally, it was prom night, and the houseguests had to figure out who “America” voted for for different superlatives. Turns out that Chicken George has really been paying attention, and ended up winning the HoH. Good for you George! Of course, it’s more of a curse this week as it’s a double eviction week. George had about 8 seconds to decide who to nominate. I’m not sure why, but he put up Erika & James. We’ll see who gets evicted on Sunday’s show. My guess is that unless James wins PoV (and this assumes that there will be a PoV for this eviction), Boogie will use the Coup D’Etat. He can nominate Janelle & Howie, and dismantle the S6 alliance for good. Can’t wait…

I'm in love with Chilltown

I think I may be Chilltown’s biggest fan. Well, at least the biggest fan that’s not a relative. But really, I love Boogie & Will. They are playing such a smart game, and they’re so darn funny.

With Kaysar and James up for nomination, it really didn’t matter to Chilltown who went home. Regardless, they’re safe for another week, probably two. If Kaysar stays, he’s made a deal with Chilltown (and a floater would nominate members of S6). If James stays, the Legion of Doom is intact, and S6 would nominate floaters in retaliation. Really perfect plan.

I wasn’t really surprised that Kaysar was evicted. I WAS surprised how harsh Julie was on him when left the house. The taped messages were pretty rough too – not the best way to spend your birthday. So the Legion of Doom is intact, and no one really knows.

Also last night was the HoH competition. However, we all saw Howie’s buzzer screw up and eliminate him from the competition. Clearly, the producers knew that it was a mistake, and announced today that they would be re-doing the HoH competition and it will air on Sunday. If I were Erika, I wouldn’t be all too pleased – hopefully they will give her some kind of advantage in the second competition.

Finally, they announced a new power – the Coup d’Etat. It’s some sort of crazy power that is kept secret from the players – they will have the ability to overthrow the HoH and replace their nominations. And no one knows that this is the power except the person who has it. Any way you look at it, it’s huge. Here’s hoping to a Chilltown victory.

My Posts Have Melted

Well, I'm back (I think...). The last few blogs I've tried to post have disappeared...melted perhaps. It's 11:30 am and the heat index here in Northern Virginia is already 102 degrees. This is insane. Anyways, a quick recap...

I'm done with America's Got Talent. Really. And I don't think I'm the only one...the ratings have been steadily declining each week since they started. As soon as the judges decided to pass through the Rappin' Granny, I turned it off. This is what passes for talent in America? I think someone at NBC is confusing talent with halftime shows.

So You Think You Can Dance
is coming down to the final weeks, and the cuts this week were tough, at least for the girls. No doubt that it was Ryan's turn to go, but I was surprised that Allison was voted off. Her final solo was amazing...I read that she and Travis danced together before they came to the show, which is why he was part of it. It was so beautiful - best performance of the night for sure.

And then there's Big Brother. Oh BB7...you have sucked me in for good. Thursday Jase was eliminated in a 9-0 vote (no shocker, really), and the S-6 alliance continued their dominance when Janelle won HoH. That's when things got interesting. See, as you know, Will is my favorite player. Ever. And is his playing such a brilliant game. He has sucked Janelle in, and Chilltown is firmly in control. To be honest, it was a good play on Janelle's part to nominate floaters (especially how she got that second floater nomination...brilliant...). The truth of it is that the floaters have the numbers, and as soon as one of them wins HoH, they won't be nominating a floater. So if Chilltown is still in it, a floater could nominate them instead of S-6. But if Will or Boogie goes home, then you know a S-6 member will be evicted instead.

Anyways, last night's episode was great. The wakeup calls were fantastic (although I agree that somewhere, adults took time out of their lives to make them...hmmmm...), and I was stoked when Boogie won. And my favorite part of the entire season is the diary room "phone calls" between Will & Boogie. I nearly fall off the couch laughing every time.

Try to stay cool...and if Verizon can actually keep my DSL working for more than a few hours at a time, I'll post more regularly the rest of the week! :)

Drama! Drama! Drama!

Oh, the drama at the Big Brother house! And oh how I love it!

With James as HoH, the S-6 alliance is in full control of the game. And his nominations weren’t really a surprise. Chicken George is playing the game hard, even if he doesn’t admit it. It sure does take him a long time on his knees behind the counter to sweep up for someone who’s not eavesdropping, doesn’t it? And the whole idea that Dr. Will is up as a pawn is laughable too. There’s a reason why he’s one of the best to ever play the game.

The food competition was fun, but I wonder if they decided to have that particular game before the season started, or if someone pointed out how wrong it is to be making a team eat slop for the week. PB&J is one thing; slop is another. It definitely looks like some of them weren’t really eating anything for the week; it’s just that objectionable.

The PoV competition was the best so far. They pretty much played truth or dare, and some of the dares were pretty hard. I know that I wouldn’t have shaved my head (and we all know that Jase wouldn’t have either if he was still in it!). Not only did Chicken George win, but he’ll be eating slop for the rest of the summer.

Marcellas may be the funniest person in the house. Why is he always walking around in a robe? And his commentary on Kaysar was hilarious. Even my husband who claims to not be watching laughed out loud at that. And the shouting match at the end of the show between him and Jase was fantastic. I hope he’s around for awhile.

The veto ceremony was phenomenal television. Will’s speech was perfect. I loved it – and after all that talk about hating all of them and throwing every challenge, the bottom line is he’s probably still going to be around after the vote tomorrow night. He’s right – the target on his back has now gotten so large that it’s invisible. It makes you remember just how smart he is.

So tomorrow night we’ll likely see the eviction of Jase. I can’t say that I’ll be too sad to see him and his primping go.

Nakomis the Next Houseguest Evicted

The thing that makes Big Brother so different from any other reality show is that it’s shown to us in real time. We’re seeing things as they happen, and the remaining houseguests are in the house right now, wondering who James will nominate for eviction along with us. Why is this so important? The editing of individual shows isn’t as good, since thy just don’t have as much time (for example, Survivor is shot 3-4 months before the episodes air). But they also can’t edit in a story line – the editors don’t know what will happen either. And that element makes the show so different than the others. Even the best edited shows (Survivor, Amazing Race…) have story lines. It’s nice to watch a show where the only story lines are the ones that the contestants are coming up with.

Like the secret Mr. & Mrs. Smith alliance between Diane & Jase. What is that all about? It does look like they probably do have something going on. But Mr. & Mrs. Smith? Come on.

Then there’s Howie’s man crush on Dr. Will. Did Howie kiss Will tonight? And what was up with him sitting rubbing Will’s shoulder? Yikes.

Anyways, I wasn’t too surprised to see Nakomis go home tonight. I was, however, surprised to see another member of the S-6 alliance win HoH for the third week in a row. Even though James tries to distance himself from the S-6ers, he’s secured them all another week in the BB7 house. Should be interesting to see if he will put Chilltown up for eviction, or if he’ll continue the trend of floaters.

Lots going on at the Big Brother house

Oh, I’m so behind on my blogging. But at least it’s with good reason – not only was I watching the Red Sox last week, but my softball team was in the playoffs over the weekend. We won a few games before being eliminated Saturday night. And with the charming heat wave, I can’t say that we were THAT disappointed to not have to play again in the 95 degree heat the next morning. That’s right, 95 degrees in the morning. At 10:00 this morning it was already 93. Yikes. The real sign of the heatwave? The nearly empty ice cream/frozen treat aisle at the grocery store yesterday. But I digress…

I did catch up on a few shows. First was a quick view of America’s Got Talent. Taylor Ware moved on to the finals, which means more yodeling, less hot guys clogging. Seriously, who votes for these things? You’ve got to think it through.

Way better was Big Brother: All Stars. On Thursday, Alison was the first houseguest to be evicted. Not a real surprise – she was a much bigger threat than Danielle. Then, in a ridiculously fast HoH competition, Kaysar was crowned the new HoH (oh yeah, we’re back to just one HoH). And the S-6 alliance quickly celebrated, just in case we didn’t realize that they were all together. Not such a bright idea. A good idea? The different HoH bedroom décor this week. How cool is that?

No more peanut butter & jelly – this year the houseguests are stuck with slop. What is that stuff? I can’t believe that the producers are getting away with making them eat that. Ugh. It looked like some of them were stirring something into it…I wish I knew what that was as well.

Kaysar took the easy way out and nominated Nakomis & Dianne for eviction. It was a ridiculous move – he made a deal with Chilltown that makes no sense for him. Dr. Will is playing him like a fiddle. You could see it even more on tonight’s episode (which, by the way, featured a great diary by Chilltown mocking the nominations…this is why I love them…). Will knows exactly what he is doing…not winning the PoV competition, talking to Kaysar by the hot tub, asking to be put up for eviction…he’s playing a brilliant game.

Jase is playing such a different game this time around. He has grown up, and I actually feel for him being away from his girlfriend and her daughter. Part of me hopes that he gets evicted soon so he can go home (but then again, part of me wants him to stick around and be eye candy all summer).

Random fact of the week – can you guess Howie’s listed occupation? Light saber salesperson. Wow.

I was glad that Erika won the PoV, and I think that she made the right decision to not veto Dianne or Nakomis. It would be different if she had the power to choose the replacement; Kaysar was sure to nominate one of her friends if she used her veto. That, and she and Kaysar are starting to get closer and closer. Should be an interesting “showmance” maybe? Of course, nothing will top the Will-Howie romance. Seriously, Howie’s crush on Will is getting stranger and stranger (but the bit with him in the shower tonight was great…”little Howie’s getting smaller and smaller…”)

Anyways, I think that Nakomis will be heading home Thursday, which is a shame, since I love her new hair color. And hopefully someone can break the streak of the S-6 alliance winning HoH.

Big Brother All Stars

First, a disclaimer: I’ve never watched a full season of Big Brother. So if I ask a question that seems ridiculously obvious to those who have watched every episode every summer of Big Brother, that’s why. Just so you know.

This summer we are treated with the all stars version of Big Brother. After viewers voted for their favorite nominees (which, by the way, is really how my other favorites should choose their all star casts…I hear that both Amazing Race and Survivor may be thinking of doing all star seasons…), we found out last week who the newest houseguests are. And thankfully, my two favorites are in the house – Dr. Will and Mike Boogie. Love ‘em. Especially Dr. Will – have you listened to the things he’s said? Like last night, when he realizes that Howie might be stalking him. His analysis? That he and Howie like the same thing – HIM. And then he looks at Howie and says “I’ve never had a retarded friend before.” Hee hee!

The HOH & PoV competitions were interesting. I wouldn’t have wanted to be the first HOH – definitely too much power too soon. I think that Jase realized that, especially when he didn’t try too hard to win PoV. He’s playing a good game, aligning himself with the BB6 crowd, as well as his own friends. He’s letting Janelle play the bad guy role as well – he’s a force to be reckoned with.

The other funny moment of the night? The Big Brother slip and slide. Why would Chicken George ride Howie down the slip & slide? And my favorite comment of the night? Marcello, after watching that display…”it’s enough to make me straight.”

Anyways, I think that Alison is done – she’s far more likely to win HOH than Danielle. Until Thursday…
